Job Description
We are hiring a Field Interviewer / Survey Enumerator for a short-term research project in Vanderhoof and Burns Lake, BC.
The role involves approaching members of the public in approved public locations and conducting short face-to-face surveys. The research collects local residents' feedback and opinions about their community, local area, and activities and operations in the region.

Fieldwork Dates: September 8 – September 13, 2026
Pay: $22/hour + $150 flat gas/travel support
Hours: Approximately 5 hours per day
Job Type: Part-time / Temporary
Fieldwork Schedule
- Sep 8–9 – Vanderhoof: Public areas and other high-foot-traffic locations
- Sep 10 – Vanderhoof: Farmers Market (10 AM–2 PM) and Riverside Municipal Park
- Sep 11–13 – Burns Lake: Lakes District Fall Fair
Responsibilities
- Approach and engage members of the public professionally
- Conduct short face-to-face surveys
- Accurately record respondents' answers
- Take photos of assigned fieldwork areas/locations during shifts as required
- Follow all project instructions and screening requirements
- Remain active and engaged during scheduled fieldwork hours
- Provide daily fieldwork progress reports and updates to the Project Manager
- Maintain regular communication with the project team throughout the assignment
Requirements
- English proficiency is required
- Comfortable approaching and speaking with members of the public
- Friendly, professional, reliable, and punctual
- Able to follow survey and fieldwork instructions accurately
- Must be available and active during the assigned fieldwork dates and hours
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel between Vanderhoof and Burns Lake
- Required project travel is supported through the $150 flat gas/travel allowance
- Previous interviewing, customer service, sales, outreach, or research experience is an asset
Compensation
$22/hour for approximately 5 hours of fieldwork per day, plus $150 flat gas/travel support for required project travel.
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 25.0 per week
