Job Summary:
The primary responsibility will be fabrication of composite items, parts, assemblies, and structures. Composite fabricating work requires knowledge of the physical properties and working characteristics of thermosets, fiberglass, composite, and compound ingredients, with a basic knowledge of metals, metal properties, and metal characteristics. Most products to be cut are Fiberglass Reinforced Products (FRP) for the wastewater and electrical industries. Each of these parts will be custom designed.
This position includes working with Project Manager and engineers to ensure the products are fabricated as per drawing. There will be considerable hands-on work required to operate the equipment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Laminating and vacuum bagging of composite materials as per the instructions
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and manufacturers’ instructions with specifications
- Assembling, fitting, component/assemblies, substructures
- Achieve production schedule
- Attend meetings as required
- Be responsible for assigned tasks
- Ensure the shop environment is kept safe, clean and organized
- Provide training, guidance and assistance to co-workers as required
- Ensure adequate communication with other program team members
- Troubleshoot any issues with composite materials or equipment
- Assist in the design of molds, tools, dies, jigs and fixtures
- Assist assembly and other miscellaneous work
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop composite solutions
- Work with the Production Manager and other production team members to meet customer’s delivery schedule.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to company policies
- Propose ideas for production improvement at the Shop Floor
- Use Fundamental Engineering Concepts to improve product development
Job Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability or desire to learn hand layup, bag infusion, LRTM process and mold making
- Experience in using fundamental engineering principles
- Experience in making improvements to current processes
- Ability to learn new skills and adopt best practices
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs, and work in loud environments
- Ability to use and operate tools and equipment including:
- Measuring instruments such as gram scales to weigh resins
- Hand & Orbital Sanders
- Grinders, cutters, drills, and fasteners to remove or join materials
- Rulers, squares, forms and templates to measure materials and trim lines
- Scissors, shears, knives and power saws to cut and trim materials
- Rivet guns, drills, files, squeegees, and rollers to accomplish fabrication and final installation
- Determine dimensions and sizes in drawings and blueprints to make templates used in making, cutting, and trimming final products
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Education:
- 2-3 Year College Diploma in Mechanical, Architectural, Civil Engineering
- Or Equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
- Two to Five years experience in composite industry
- Experience from Foreign Country is acknowledged and welcomed

- Good communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.
