You're More Than an Estimator. You're a Trusted Advisor.
At ECONO LUMBER, we're looking for more than someone who can prepare accurate material estimates.
We're looking for an experienced professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, reading blueprints, and helping customers successfully complete their projects.
If you're someone contractors trust, customers ask for by name, and colleagues rely on for your knowledge and judgment, we'd like to talk with you.
For more than 50 years, ECONO LUMBER has been supplying quality building materials and expert advice to contractors, builders, farmers and homeowners throughout Northern Saskatchewan. Our reputation has been built on knowledgeable people, exceptional service and lasting customer relationships, and we're looking for someone who wants to continue that tradition.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, in-house role where you'll become a trusted partner to our customers, guiding projects from the initial conversation through to quotation, material selection and delivery.
You'll combine technical construction knowledge with outstanding customer service and sales skills to help customers make informed decisions while growing long-term business relationships.
Success in this role isn't measured simply by how many quotes you prepare. It's measured by the relationships you build, the confidence customers have in your advice, and your ability to help turn opportunities into successful projects.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work with contractors, builders, farmers, renovators and homeowners to:
- Prepare accurate material take-offs from blueprints, drawings and customer sketches.
- Develop quotations for residential, agricultural, commercial and renovation projects.
- Recommend practical, cost-effective building solutions.
- Help customers select the right products for their projects.
- Follow up on quotations and build opportunities into long-term customer relationships.
- Coordinate with purchasing, suppliers, dispatch and yard staff to ensure projects run smoothly.
- Stay involved throughout each project, providing advice and exceptional customer service from start to finish.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience in construction estimating, contractor sales, building materials or a related industry.
- Can confidently read residential construction blueprints.
- Understands residential construction methods and common building materials.
- Enjoys building relationships just as much as preparing accurate estimates.
- Has a proven ability to provide exceptional customer service while identifying sales opportunities.
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Can manage multiple projects and priorities without sacrificing accuracy.
- Communicates professionally with customers, suppliers and teammates.
- Takes ownership and follows through.
Hands-on carpentry or construction experience would be considered a significant asset.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
- Contractors ask specifically to work with you.
- You enjoy solving problems rather than simply taking orders.
- You believe great customer service continues long after the quote is sent.
- You take pride in getting the details right.
- You enjoy working with people and building long-term relationships.
- You like seeing projects come together and knowing you played an important role in their success.
Why Join ECONO LUMBER?
You'll be joining a respected, locally owned company where knowledgeable service still matters.
Our customers value expertise. Our employees are trusted to make decisions. Our team works together to solve problems and support one another.
In return, you'll enjoy:
- A stable, full-time, year-round position.
- A collaborative and experienced team environment.
- The opportunity to work on a wide variety of interesting building projects.
- Ongoing learning and product knowledge development.
- The satisfaction of making a meaningful impact for customers every day.
We also offer:
- Comprehensive group benefits.
- Employer-matched Retirement Savings Plan (RSP).
- Excellent employee discount on building materials and store products.
- A stable, full-time, salaried position (no commission).
- Ongoing product training and professional development.
- The opportunity to build a long-term career with a respected, locally owned company.
