WHO WE ARE:
CAN-AM Cryoservices is a Canadian importer and distributor of frozen donor sperm and eggs. We operate in a highly regulated environment and work closely with fertility clinics across Canada to support the safe storage, handling, and distribution of human reproductive material.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking an experienced, dependable individual to coordinate the safe, compliant, and reliable day-to-day operation of our cryobank. This is a hands-on role for someone who combines technical expertise with sound judgment, strong organization, and a high level of personal accountability. The successful candidate will exercise initiative within established procedures and delegated authority, proactively identify and resolve routine operational issues, support and mentor other team members, and appropriately escalate matters requiring technical, regulatory, or management input
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cryobank Operations and Technical Work
- Coordinate daily cryobank activities, ensuring critical tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Handle liquid nitrogen safely for the maintenance, preparation, filling, and testing of cryogenic storage and shipping equipment.
- Prepare liquid nitrogen vapour shipping containers and outer shipping containers for daily shipments of human reproductive material. This includes routinely lifting up to 30lb.
- Receive, inspect, review, recharge, and return cryogenic shipping equipment to service.
- Maintain cryogenic storage tanks through routine liquid nitrogen level checks, temperature checks, refilling, inspection, and documentation.
- Perform testing, preventive maintenance, and ongoing monitoring of cryogenic shipping containers and related equipment.
- Perform required double-verification checks of order, donor, specimen, and shipment information prior to shipment.
- Complete final packing and sealing of shipments and ensure that shipments are ready for courier pickup by the required cut-off time.
- Coordinate the scheduling, tracking, and availability of cryogenic shipping equipment.
- Maintain cryobank supplies, monitor minimum stock levels, and initiate restocking requests before shortages occur.
- Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and inspection-ready cryobank environment.
Quality, Compliance, and Documentation
- Perform all activities in accordance with applicable Health Canada requirements, company policies, approved standard operating procedures, and internal quality systems.
- Maintain complete, accurate, legible, and traceable records for cryobank activities, equipment, shipments, inventory, and maintenance.
- Identify, document, and promptly escalate deviations, equipment concerns, safety risks, and process failures.
- Support investigations, corrective and preventive actions, change controls, and other quality-system activities, as required.
- Participate in internal audits, external audits, regulatory inspections, and inspection-readiness activities.
- Assist with the creation, review, revision, and implementation of standard operating procedures, forms, work instructions, and training materials.
- Support chain-of-custody, traceability, and inventory-control requirements for human reproductive material and related equipment.
Leadership and Continuous Improvement
- Serve as a dependable technical and operational resource for cryobank activities.
- Train, mentor, and provide day-to-day guidance to other team members.
- Monitor daily priorities, anticipate workload or equipment constraints, and raise concerns early.
- Promote a safety-first, quality-focused, and accountable work culture.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, organization, documentation, workflow, and risk controls.
- Help implement new systems and processes, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and related inventory or logistics workflows.
- Work collaboratively with management, quality, client services, logistics, clinics, couriers, and other internal or external partners.
Logistics and Client Support
- Coordinate shipping, receiving, scheduling, and tracking activities related to clinic and client orders.
- Prepare shipping documentation, including outgoing and return waybills using courier or shipping-provider tools.
- Communicate professionally with clinics, couriers, suppliers, and internal team members regarding operational or logistics matters.
- Provide additional administrative, client service, logistics, or cryobank support as operational needs require.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Reproductive Science, or a related field) strongly preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Related Experience
- Several years of experience with demonstrated progressive responsibility in a cryobank, tissue bank, biobank, IVF laboratory, cell therapy, stem cell or cord blood bank, blood bank, pharmaceutical, biologics, medical device, temperature-controlled healthcare distribution, or another regulated life sciences environment.
- Demonstrated experience independently coordinating critical daily operations and following detailed controlled procedures.
- Experience maintaining accurate records, traceability, chain of custody, equipment logs, inventory records, or other regulated documentation.
- Experience training, mentoring, or providing day-to-day direction to other team members.
Strongly Preferred Experience
- Direct experience working in a cryobank or handling cryogenic biological material.
- Hands-on experience with liquid nitrogen, cryogenic storage systems, dry shippers, or vapour shipping containers.
- Experience working in a Health Canada regulated environment or another comparable quality or regulatory framework.
- Experience participating in audits, inspections, deviation investigations, corrective and preventive actions, or controlled-document review.
- Experience in human reproduction, fertility services, tissue or cell banking, medical supplies handling, or temperature-controlled healthcare logistics.
- Experience using an ERP, warehouse management, inventory management, or quality management system; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is an asset.

PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to routinely lift and move items weighing up to 30 lb.
- Ability to work safely around liquid nitrogen, cryogenic equipment, and temperature-controlled materials while using required personal protective equipment.
- Ability to perform hands-on work involving standing, bending, reaching, moving shipping containers, and completing repetitive operational tasks.
- Reliable on-site attendance during the scheduled hours is essential because the role supports time-sensitive daily shipments and cryobank operations.
