Position Summary
The position of Saw & Cold Cut Operator / Programmer includes but is not limited to the operation and setup of the horizontal bandsaw and cold cut saws, as well as a variety of hand and power tools. Additionally, maintain saws to cut materials accurately according to specifications, using blueprints, measurements, and geometric calculations while adjusting settings for different materials and cutting requirements. You will be required to work according to established procedures, read and understand work orders and blueprints, and follow all safety protocols and workplace policies.

Responsibilities
- Operate hydraulic horizontal bandsaw and cold cut saws
- Other assigned work as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to determine accurate cutting dimensions
- Perform precise measurements and calculations using mathematical and geometric principles to ensure material accuracy
- Adjust saw settings, angles, and speeds to accommodate different materials and cutting requirements
- Conduct quality checks to ensure cuts meet specifications and tolerances
- Unload raw materials from semi-trucks and store material
- Maintain equipment and ensure work area is clean and safe at all times
- Performs basic preventative and routine maintenance on saw equipment
- Completes stock inventory reports as and when required
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Operates over head crane and use of forklift
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and PakFab policies
Requirements
- A minimum of 2+ years of experience as a saw operator in a manufacturing/industrial environment (required)
- Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, and tape measures
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and other technical diagrams
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Able to effectively communicate verbally
- Able to work well under pressure
- Preferably possess a valid forklift license
- Preferably possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to use hands for grasping and fine manipulations
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques used in safe saw operation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production shop

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Preferably possess a valid driver’s license

Work Conditions
- Lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of time and perform somewhat strenuous physical labor at different times
- Use of personal protection equipment will be required
- Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
- Must be able to quickly move arms and legs
