As Tyto Robotics continues to grow, we're looking for a Quality Control Technician to help ensure quality throughout our production process—from the components and materials arriving at our facility to the calibration and final validation of the products we ship to our customers.
The Role
As our Quality Control Technician, you'll work at both ends of our production process. You'll inspect and test incoming components and materials, identify supplier quality issues, and provide information and recommendations that help us work with our suppliers to improve incoming quality.
You'll also perform the calibration, validation, and final quality control of our precision test equipment. This includes mechanical measurements such as torque and thrust/force, as well as electrical measurements such as current and voltage.
This is a newly created role with an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to how quality control develops at Tyto Robotics.
What You'll DoIncoming & Supplier Quality
- Inspect and test incoming components, materials, and inventory against drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Perform visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical, or functional inspections as appropriate.
- Identify and document non-conforming incoming materials.
- Track recurring supplier quality issues and help identify trends.
- Work with our buyer to communicate quality concerns and recommend opportunities to improve supplier performance and supplier relationships.
- Collaborate with Production and Engineering to evaluate and resolve incoming quality issues.
Calibration & Finished-Product Quality
- Perform calibration and manual verification of precision test equipment and measurement systems.
- Carry out mechanical calibrations, including torque and thrust/force measurements.
- Perform electrical calibrations and measurements, including current and voltage.
- Perform final inspection and validation of finished products.
- Review calibration and validation results and identify products or measurements that do not meet established requirements.
- Investigate unexpected results and assist with troubleshooting and corrective actions.
- Prepare accurate, complete, and traceable calibration and quality-control reports.
Improving How We Work
- Maintain accurate incoming inspection, calibration, test, and quality records.
- Improve inspection and calibration procedures, documentation, workflows, and record-keeping processes.
- Help develop and document improved inspection, calibration, and verification methods.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of quality-control tools, test setups, and production workflows.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, R&D, and Purchasing to improve product and process quality.
Cross-Training Is Part of How We Work
Tyto Robotics is a small, multidisciplinary team, and we believe strongly in cross-training.
Quality control will be your primary responsibility, but it won't be the only thing you'll ever do. We train our team members in different areas of the operation so we can support one another, cover for each other, and respond to changing priorities.
At times, you may help with electro-mechanical assembly, testing, troubleshooting, inventory, or other hands-on production activities. Likewise, other members of the team may support quality-control activities when needed.

What We're Looking For
- A technical diploma/DEC in electronics, electromechanics, instrumentation, mechanical engineering technology, metrology, or a related discipline—or equivalent relevant hands-on experience.
- Experience with quality control, calibration, metrology, precision measurement, inspection, or test equipment.
- Experience with electrical measurements such as current and voltage.
- Experience with mechanical measurements, particularly torque and thrust/force.
- Ability to inspect components against technical drawings, specifications, and acceptance requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, procedures, and test requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and a disciplined approach to documentation and record keeping.
- Experience preparing inspection, calibration, verification, or test reports.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate quality issues and technical findings clearly and objectively.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn new tasks and contribute outside your primary area of responsibility when needed.
Assets
- Experience with incoming inspection, supplier quality, or manufacturing quality control.
- Experience working with purchasing or supply-chain teams on supplier quality issues.
- Familiarity with quality management systems or formal quality-control environments.
- Knowledge of standards such as ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, AS9100, or similar standards.
- Experience developing or improving inspection or calibration procedures and methodologies.
- Experience with ERP or production-management systems.
- Familiarity with drones, UAVs, electric motors, power electronics, or aerospace products.
- Experience with small- to medium-scale production, prototyping, or test equipment.
- Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles or experience working in a Lean environment.
Work Environment
- This position is 100% on-site at our facility in Gatineau, Quebec. It cannot be performed remotely.
- Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Hands-on technical environment involving incoming inspection, precision measurement, calibration, mechanical systems, electronics, and testing.
- Close collaboration with Production, Engineering, R&D, and Purchasing.

Pay: $27.00-$33.81 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
