Job Summary
The Digital Marketing Specialist plays a key role in shaping how Build a Dream shows up online by creating compelling digital content, supporting marketing campaigns, and driving engagement across social media and web platforms.
This role is ideal for a creative, digitally fluent marketer who enjoys turning ideas into content, stories, and campaigns that reach and engage diverse audiences. The position uses modern tools, including Canva, AI platforms, social media scheduling tools, and website content systems, to support ongoing marketing initiatives.
This is a hands-on execution role within a mission-driven organization focused on empowering women and gender-diverse individuals in skilled trades, STEM, and leadership pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Content Creation
- Create high-quality digital content using Canva and other design tools
- Develop social media posts, graphics, short-form content, and campaign assets
- Translate ideas and program updates into engaging visual and written content
- Maintain consistent brand voice and visual identity across platforms
Social Media Execution & Engagement
- Manage day-to-day posting across social media platforms
- Build and maintain content calendars in collaboration with the Marketing team
- Monitor engagement and respond to community interactions as appropriate
- Identify content trends and adapt creative approaches for stronger reach
Campaign & Event Marketing Support
- Support execution of digital marketing campaigns for programs and events
- Produce and schedule content that promotes key initiatives and activities
- Capture and create content during events (photos, reels, short-form media)
- Support post-event storytelling and digital recaps
Website & Digital Content Updates
- Update website content, including pages, blogs, and announcements
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with current programming
- Support ongoing maintenance of digital content across platforms
Digital Tools & Innovation
- Use AI tools to support content creation, editing, and ideation
- Work with scheduling, design, and analytics tools to support marketing activity
- Stay current with digital and social media trends to inform content approach
Analytics & Insights Support
- Track basic performance metrics across social and web platforms
- Assist in preparing simple reports on engagement and reach
- Help identify opportunities to improve content performance
Collaboration & Team Support
- Work closely with the Marketing team to support campaign delivery
- Contribute creative ideas during planning discussions
- Support consistent messaging across marketing and communications
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field
- 2–4 years in digital marketing, social media, or content creation
- Strong portfolio or examples of digital content work (social, design, campaigns)
- Experience using Canva and social media platforms professionally
- Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven environments is an asset
Skills
- Strong visual storytelling and content creation ability
- Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and engagement strategies
- Comfort with AI tools for content support
- Basic familiarity with website content systems (CMS platforms)
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple content priorities and deadlines
Travel Requirement
This role requires periodic travel in support of national and regional events, partner activations, and campaign execution. Travel is estimated at approximately 15–25% of working time and may fluctuate during peak event seasons. Approved business travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with Company policy.

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
