Casual Cook – On-Call
The Victorian Retirement Residence is seeking a dependable and experienced Casual Cook to provide coverage for staff vacations, illness and other occasional absences. This position is ideal for someone who wants sporadic, on-call shifts rather than a regular weekly schedule, but who has excellent availability and can sometimes accept shifts on short notice.
Responsibilities include:● Preparing and serving nutritious, home-style meals
● Following established menus and dietary requirements
● Maintaining a clean, organized and sanitary kitchen
● Completing dishes and general kitchen cleanup
● Providing friendly, respectful service to our residents
● Following food-safety proceduresThe ideal candidate:
● Has previous cooking or commercial kitchen experience
● Holds a valid FoodSafe certificate
● Is dependable, flexible and comfortable working independently
● Has broad availability, including occasional weekends and holidays
● Enjoys working with seniors
● Understands that hours are not guaranteed and may vary considerablyThis is a casual, on-call position with no set weekly hours. It would be an excellent fit for a retired or semi-retired cook, someone with another flexible position, or anyone looking for occasional extra shifts.
Pay: $18.25-$24.25 per hour
