Petalo, Calgary newest Italian restaurant, is seeking its inagural hospitality team. Petalo will feature fresh, light, vibrant, modern Italian cuisine with Mediterranean and European nods.
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Bartender to join our new vibrant team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing exceptional customer service, a strong knowledge of mixology, and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. This role involves creating new and feature cocktails and mocktails, mixing drinks, serving customers, and ensuring all safety and food handling standards are met. You will also be expected to set up and tear down the bar, prepare garnishes, and complete liquor inventory every week. Expected schedule to be Tuesday-Saturday evenings.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately according to standard recipes and customer preferences.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, professional manner to enhance their overall experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including glassware, utensils, and supplies.
- Handle cash transactions efficiently using Square POS system, ensuring accurate cash handling and cashiering procedures.
- Monitor guest behavior to promote responsible drinking and adhere to food safety regulations.
- Restock bar supplies as needed and assist with inventory management.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations related to food handling and service.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation during busy hours.
- Build and maintain regular clientele at the bar.
- Assist in table service as needed - running food, cleaning tables, etc. if time permits.
- Must have barista experience.
- Coordinate with BOH for any fresh product ordering.
- Strong English communication skills with ability to establish and develop relationships with team members, partners, and customers.
- Basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
- Valid Alberta ProServe certification obtained within 30 days of starting.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Capacity to safely lift and easily maneuver potentially heavy trays of food and drinks.
- Must be over 18 as alcohol service and open scheduling availability is a requirement.
Requirements
- Bartending experience required.
- Serving experience is preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate an aptitude for creating cocktails and cocktail programs. We would like to feature your cocktails on our list.
Pay: $15.00-$18.00 per hour
