The Cozy Gull Hobby & Game Café is looking for a Baking Assistant to help prepare baked goods & café menu items.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a kitchen environment and takes pride in preparing food with care and consistency. You'll help keep our kitchen organized and running smoothly while supporting a cozy, friendly atmosphere for guests enjoying coffee, hobbies, and time together.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Prepare baked goods according to The Cozy Gull recipes and standards
- Assist with preparation of seasonal or themed menu specials
Kitchen Operations
- Monitor baking times and kitchen equipment
- Assist with ingredient prep, portioning, and storage
- Maintain steady kitchen flow during busy service periods
Food Safety
- Follow food safety guidelines and sanitation procedures
- Follow allergy protocols and ingredient labeling requirements
- Maintain proper food storage and ingredient rotation
Kitchen Organization
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace
- Wash and sanitize kitchen tools, equipment, and prep areas
- Restock ingredients and supplies as needed
- Coordinate with management on orders when ingredients or supplies are low
Team Collaboration
- Communicate with front-of-house staff regarding orders and timing
- Support café operations during busy service periods
- Assist with prep for events and themed menu items
Qualifications & Requirements
- Food Safety / Food Handler Certification (required or willingness to obtain within the first 30 days of employment)
- Previous experience working in a kitchen, bakery, café, or food service environment is an asset
- Precious baking experience is a strong asset
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices, cleanliness, and kitchen sanitation
- Ability to follow recipes and food preparation procedures accurately
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and organization
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting (up to ~30 lbs)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to communicate clearly with team members
- Availability to work weekends, mornings, and holidays as needed

Pay: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
