Western is seeking a dynamic Operator Safety Instructor to join our team. The Operator Safety Instructor will play a key role in conducting training sessions for powered industrial equipment and ensuring legislative compliance through engaging seminars and continual program development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for safety, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to connect with diverse audiences. The instructor is required to ensure achievement of legislative compliance through training seminars and continual program development.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct training sessions covering legislative requirements.
- Work with schedulers, sales, management team, and other branch personnel to achieve optimal customer service and response times.
- Evaluate and test trainees on theory comprehension and equipment operating competency.
- Update curriculum as required to customize for specific customer requirements.
- Assist in development of new training materials and aids for all programs, and to remain current and consistent with industry safety standards.
- Travel to customer sites and WMH branches throughout Alberta as required.
- Occasionally weekend training is required.
- Maintain clean and organized training rooms.
- Complete accurate trainee documentation in a timely fashion.
- Make sales calls to Promote & Market Operator Safety Programs as required.
- Maintain up to date sales activity in the WMH lead management / scheduling system.
- Up-sell additional safety products during training courses.
- Maintain Contacts within various Safety Organizations.
- Remain current with updates to OHS regulations & Labour Laws.
- Report to Management and make suggestions regarding direction of training.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business demand.
- Adhere to dealerships Health and Safety policies.
Qualifications
- Industry experience and/or safety training experience is an asset.
- Certification in Powered Industrial Equipment Training (e.g., forklifts, scissor lifts).
- 2-3 years of experience in safety training or operator instruction.
- Knowledge of Alberta OHS regulations and Labour Laws.
- Strong presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in lead management and scheduling software.
- Sales or marketing experience is an asset.
- Willingness to travel throughout Alberta and work occasional weekends.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
