Velco Machining is a custom machining and manufacturing company based in Sudbury. We are seeking to add a full-time skilled Welder or Fitter who will be responsible for handling weldments that we are requested to produce. You will work directly with our Production Manager to schedule and execute the workload.
The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience as a welder and is CWB 47.1 certified in the GMAW process. We are experiencing considerable growth and are looking for a team member to assist with our increased production demands. Only qualified applicants will be contacted. Full time position – Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm, overtime required as it arises to meet customer demands.
Job description and responsibilities;
- Fabricate/assemble metal weldments according to customer supplied engineering drawings and specifications within their required tolerances.
- Extensive knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment used in the welding fabrication trades.
- Setting up and operating trade machinery such as welding machines, oxy-fuel cutting torches, performing lay-outs, and grinding
- Ability to read and assess mechanical drawings
- Properly planning the sequence of the fabrication to effectively meet the supplied drawings
- Safely utilizing cranes, rigging equipment, forklift and other items to move completed weldments
- Inspect final product to ensure it meets tolerances and quality standards, including the completion of inspection sheets.
- Ability to lift up to fifty pounds safely
- Work in a accordance with our safety standards; eyeglass protection, CSA standard boots/shoes, proper uniform, always operating in a safe manner and promptly reporting potential safety concerns
- Always ensuring safe operation of equipment
- Ensure a clean working environment
- Assist in other tasks around the shop, as needed.
