Fleet Maintenance Supervisor – Feed Hauling Fleet
Location: Truro, Nova Scotia (serving NS, NB, PEI, NL)

Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 (depending on experience)

About the Opportunity
We are working with a long-standing and respected Atlantic Canadian transportation company specializing in feed hauling across the region. With a fleet of 30+ trucks and 70+ specialized trailers, the operation is built on reliability, uptime, and strong in-house maintenance support.
To support continued growth, we are seeking a hands-on Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to take ownership of day-to-day shop operations, fleet reliability, and preventative maintenance execution.
This is not a desk-based role — it is a working leadership position for someone who understands heavy equipment, earns respect in the shop, and
takes pride in keeping a fleet running safely and efficiently.
The Role at a Glance
This role is best suited to a senior shop leader or working foreman with strong mechanical credibility and the ability to lead a small but skilled maintenance team.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring fleet uptime and reliability
- Leading shop workflow and technician priorities
- Driving preventative maintenance programs
- Supporting breakdown response and repair decisions
- Maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized shop environment
You will be the key link between mechanics, drivers, and management — ensuring equipment is ready when it needs to be.
Key Responsibilities
Shop & Fleet Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day shop operations and workflow
- Assign and prioritize work for mechanics and technicians
- Provide hands-on technical guidance and troubleshooting support
- Ensure quality control on all completed repairs and inspections
Fleet Maintenance & Uptime
- Manage preventative maintenance schedules across trucks and trailers
- Oversee diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and breakdown response
- Support decision-making on repair vs. replacement considerations
- Track and reduce downtime across the fleet
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Canadian trucking and safety regulations
- Promote and enforce safe work practices in the shop and field
- Lead or support safety meetings and shop compliance initiatives
Parts, Vendors & Cost Awareness
- Oversee parts usage, inventory, and shop supplies
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers when required
- Support cost-conscious decision-making around repairs and sourcing
Communication & Coordination
- Work closely with drivers regarding equipment issues and repair status
- Coordinate with management on fleet priorities and operational needs
- Support clear documentation of maintenance activity and issues
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Experience
- 5+ years in heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance or fleet environment
- Strong mechanical background (diesel, hydraulics, trailers, or similar)
- 2+ years in a supervisory, lead hand, or foreman-style role
- Solid understanding of preventative maintenance systems
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-uptime environment
Strong Assets
- Experience in bulk transport, agriculture, feed, or similar industries
- Pneumatic system or blower trailer experience
- Heavy Equipment Technician or Truck & Transport certification
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance software or telematics systems
- Class 1 license
