Our client, a well-established and highly respected construction industry leader is seeking a Planning & Scheduling Lead to operate out of its Mississauga, ON offices. You’ll play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules for construction projects across both pre-construction and construction phases. You will collaborate closely with project teams—including estimating, design, engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractors—to ensure schedules are realistic, achievable, and aligned with contract and company requirements.
- Experience in hospital building construction is essential.
- Please note that this position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
The Job:
Lead all project and development-phase scheduling activities, including planning, monitoring, Earned Value management, critical path analysis, cost loading, reporting, coordination with Commercial/Project Controls teams, and ensuring on-time completion of all schedules (Project Works + DPA Works).
Responsibilities from both PA & DPA:
- Prepare, review, and confirm Earned Value Management Plan and related calculations.
- Develop, manage, and maintain Project Works Schedules and DPA Works Schedules.
- Manage Construction Works Schedules.
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate schedules including cost data.
- Lead monitoring, analysis, and reporting of schedule status and Earned Value.
- Identify and determine the Critical Path, prioritize schedule activities, and recommend mitigation for delays.
- Ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Interface with the Contracting Authority regarding risks, schedule optimization, and time-saving opportunities.
- Perform schedule duration calculations (for both Project and DPA schedules).
- Conduct cost loading activities per applicable schedules (PA = Schedule 12; DPA = Schedule 7).
- Provide objective progress measurements tied to Earned Value, Cost Accounts, and Cost Management System.
- Participate in the Commercial Management Team and Project Controls Team.
- Analyze RFP documents (including drawings, specifications, and schedule-related requirements) to inform schedule development and develop preliminary and master project schedules in Primavera P6 / MS Project for use during bidding and planning phases.
- Implement standard scheduling practices including WBS structure, activity coding, naming conventions, and calendar settings.
- Ensure schedule durations and logic are validated by internal production databases, Superintendents, and subtrades.
- Update project schedules weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, incorporating as-built dates, short-term forecasting, and delay impacts.
- Perform on-site visits as needed to validate progress data and ensure accurate updates.
- Generate “look-ahead” schedules to support field operations and identify near-term issues.
- Track and document schedule impacts due to changes, delays, or unforeseen conditions. Identify, document, and analyze delays, performing Time Impact Analyses (TIA) as needed.
- Analyze project performance using earned value, float trends, KPIs, and schedule variance metrics.
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 10 years total experience, including 5+ years planning & scheduling in a lead role on complex design-build or P3 projects, specifically hospital construction is essential
- 8+ years of Primavera P6 experience
- Demonstrated experience developing Primavera P6 schedules for complex healthcare projects
- Experience with hospital/healthcare construction projects
- Previous Infrastructure Ontario project experience
- Experience with collaborative delivery models (e.g., IPD, progressive design-build, Alliance, etc.)
- Earned Value Management (EVM) experience
- Deep understanding of construction sequencing, critical path method (CPM), and project lifecycle stages.
- Familiar with ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) construction techniques.
- Hands-on experience in roles such as Trades, Coordinator, Field Engineer, Superintendent, or similar is an asset.

- PMI-SP – Project Schedule Professional
- PMP – Project Management Professional
- PSP – Planning & Scheduling Professional
- EVP – Earned Value Professional
