Role Overview
The PSW Program Instructor is responsible for delivering the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) Personal Support Worker curriculum in compliance with:
- The Private Career Colleges Act, 2005
- NACC program standards
- Relevant regulatory and professional practice expectations
The instructor will provide both virtual classroom teaching and in-person lab instruction, ensuring students develop the competencies required to practice safely and effectively as Personal Support Workers.
This posting is for a currently vacant position at Business and Technical Training College Inc.
Responsibilities :
- Deliver the classroom and lab components of NACC PSW curriculum as mandated by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) and NACC.
- Provide engaging, interactive instruction that integrates real-world examples and best practices.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with NACC standards.
- Ensure lab training reflects safe, ethical, and professional care practices.
- Evaluate student learning using tests, assignments, skill demonstrations, and clinical performance.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support to promote student success.
- Track and report student attendance, grades, and progression in accordance with PCC and NACC requirements.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and grading.
- Participate in program reviews, audits, and inspections as required by the Ministry and NACC.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the PSW program.
Qualifications:
- Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current registration in good standing and no practice restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Minimum two (2) years of recent, relevant work experience in a Canadian clinical environment, preferably in long-term care, community, or chronic care.
- Minimum 2 years of recent teaching or training experience is required.
- Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
- Availability from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm or 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm Monday to Friday ( Evening Batch )
- Familiarity with Private Career Colleges and dealing with adult students will be considered an asset.
