The Position:
This is a temporary full-time position from August 10th, 2026 to December 24th, 2026, based out of our Support Office (Tower 1, Level 3, Suite 300, 3697 Mill Woods Road NW, Edmonton, AB T6K 3L6).
Start Date: August 10, 2026 or later based on availability
Hours: Flexible schedule of 30 to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, within the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Development Assistant will be responsible for completing a variety of communications and development activities. The Development Assistant will have a thorough understanding of AdaptAbilities programs, vision and brand. As a conscientious Development Assistant, you will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with special needs and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Assist in Fund Development activities

Provide administrative and project support

Communicate through phone conversations, written and email correspondence

Process donations and prepare tax receipts

Data coordination and data entry in donor database

Maintain timely, accurate and professional documents in accordance with AdaptAbilities policies and procedures

Perform other job-related activities as required
Qualifications
-
Certificate, Diploma or completion of two years (toward a Bachelor’s Degree) in Marketing, Communications, Fundraising, English, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Development, Sales or related field

Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
-
Great phone, computer, public relations, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Experience utilizing office applications like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Previous work in a non-profit organization is an asset
-
1+ year experience working in fund development is an asset
-
Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required upon hire
Eligibility Criteria
This position is funded through the Employment and Social Development Canada's Student Work Placement Program which requires the student to be enrolled (completing program requirements) for at least 30 days of this placement, hold Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency, or refugee status, interested in entrepreneurship and/or seeking alternatives to 'traditional' job placements. If you have been previously funded by VFC (either with our organization or another.) You must have completed VFC training. Please note that international students and recent graduates are not eligible for funding.
Compensation $19 to $20.46/ hour depending on experience and education
