The Opportunity
We are looking for a senior Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair a fleet of roadbuilding equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, and rock trucks, along with crushing and support equipment as required.
This is a field-based role. Expect remote work and a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Repairs
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues on heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot efficiently in the field with minimal supervision.
- Complete major and minor repairs to keep equipment operational.
Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections.
- Identify and address issues before they become failures.
- Maintain accurate service records.
Field Service
- Work out of a service truck supporting active construction sites.
- Respond to breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on production needs.
- Coordinate with supervisors and operators to minimize downtime.
Equipment Support
- Work on a mix of roadbuilding and crushing equipment.
- Assist with commissioning, setup, and troubleshooting of equipment on site.
Safety
- Follow all company safety procedures and site requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and service truck.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal preferred).
- Strong background in roadbuilding equipment.
- Experience with crushing equipment is an asset.
- Proven ability to work independently in the field.
Technical Skills
- Strong hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Comfortable with modern diagnostic tools and systems.
- Solid understanding of heavy equipment systems and components.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset).
- Ability to work in remote locations and variable schedules.
