The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) is recruiting an Information Security and Technology (IST) Manager to safeguard our information and information systems assets while ensuring the reliable, secure, and effective operation of our technology environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead cybersecurity and IT risk strategies, oversee core technology platforms and service delivery, and partner across the organization to deliver secure, business-focused technology services that support RECA’s public-interest mandate.

Role & responsibilities
- IT infrastructure & project management: oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of RECA’s networks, servers, storage, and core technology platforms to ensure security, reliability, availability, and scalability; lead upgrades and modernization initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
- Information security management: develop and maintain security policies, standards, and controls; lead vulnerability assessments, threat and security risk management, incident response readiness, access control, and network security practices; champion awareness training, phishing simulations, privacy-aligned data protection, and compliance with frameworks such as ISO 27002, NIST 800-53, and PCI DSS.
- Service delivery, vendors & budgets: oversee the IST Service Desk, inventory and asset tracking, supplier relationships, warranties, contracts, and service levels; develop and manage operating and capital budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure value for money across technology and security investments.
- Leadership & strategic management: provide leadership and supervision to IST staff and contractors; establish priorities, coach performance and development, foster collaboration and continuous improvement, define KPIs, support organizational change management, and communicate progress, IT risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
Skills & qualifications
- degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (equivalent experience considered); a postgraduate degree in business or cybersecurity is an asset
- 5+ years of experience in an IT leadership or management role, 5+ years in information security, and 3+ years leading projects in a project manager capacity
- demonstrated knowledge of networks, storage, server operating systems, data governance, enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and Microsoft 365 administration
- strong understanding of cybersecurity governance, security risk management, vulnerability management, and security controls in regulated environments
- certifications such as CISSP, ITIL, project management, or equivalent technical/cybersecurity credentials are considered assets
- ability to lead people, manage vendors and budgets, guide change using structured approaches, and translate technical issues for non-technical audiences
- excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound judgment, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- proactive, strategic, and service-oriented leadership style with the ability to balance operational excellence, security priorities, and business needs
