Assistant Manager, Women's Fashion — Indigo Bay, Canmore
Full-time, from $24/hour depending on experience, plus quarterly performance bonus
This isn't just retail management. It's about building a team that helps women feel confident in what they're wearing, and running a store that makes that happen every single day.
We're looking for someone who's done this before — who knows what it takes to lead a sales floor, coach a team through a packed Saturday, and still notice the details that make our store feel special.
You'll work alongside the owner and management team on everything from styling customers from around the world across more than 200 carefully chosen brands to scheduling, merchandising, inventory and solving the customer problem nobody else can. Some days that means training a new hire on the POS and what the difference is between barrel and wide-leg jeans. Other days it means climbing a ladder and hauling boxes of shoes to mark a change in the season. It's hands-on, it's fast, and it's rarely the same day twice.
Indigo Bay has been helping women find clothes they love in downtown Canmore since 2000. We're an independent boutique carrying hundreds of carefully chosen brands, from everyday favourites to pieces for special occasions. As Assistant Manager, you'll help set the tone for how our whole team shows up for customers, and you'll have real input into how the store runs.
You'll fit in here if you:
- Have at least a year of retail management experience and know what it takes to lead a shift, not just work one
- Genuinely enjoy coaching people, and can turn a nervous new hire into a confident salesperson
- Notice what needs doing and jump in without waiting to be asked
- Stay calm and clear-headed when the store is slammed and three things are going wrong at once
- Live within a 25-minute commute of Canmore and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Can commit to full-time hours including weekends and some evenings
What we offer:
- from $24/hour depending on experience
- Build your Indigo Bay wardrobe with monthly clothing credits as you reach training and tenure milestones.
- Quarterly performance bonus tied to store results
- Store discount and on-site parking
- Ongoing coaching in leadership, merchandising and product knowledge.
- Meaningful responsibility in an independent business — scheduling, merchandising, coaching, and a genuine say in how we run things
- A small, tight-knit team in one of the best mountain towns in Canada
As an independent boutique, we're able to do things differently. We build lasting relationships with our customers, choose the brands we genuinely believe in, and encourage ideas from every member of the team. If you're the kind of leader who enjoys developing people, building customer relationships and taking pride in a beautiful store, we'd love to meet you.
