Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of deli products, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced food industry setting, ensuring customers receive quality products with efficient service. Previous restaurant or food industry experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided to ensure success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and package deli meats, cheeses, and other food items according to company standards
- Operate POS systems, for accurate cash handling and transactions
- Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and upsell items when appropriate
- Maintain proper food handling and sanitation procedures in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including equipment and work surfaces
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly
- Restock shelves and display cases as needed to ensure product availability
- Handle cash transactions accurately while providing excellent customer service
Experience
- Previous experience in food service, cashiering, or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Familiarity with POS systems is a plus
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices in the food industry is advantageous
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse customers
- Ability to manage time efficiently during peak hours to ensure quick service
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and inventory counts
- Experience in food preparation, serving, or kitchen work is beneficial for understanding product handling and presentation
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
