About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Full-Time Head Barista / Gelato Shop Team Member to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating exceptional guest experiences, working in a fast-paced environment, and has a passion for coffee, gelato, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Your job responsibilities are the following but not limited to;
- Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages, matcha, teas, and other menu items.
- Scoop and serve gelato while maintaining presentation standards.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Operate the POS system and process customer transactions accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, gelato displays, seating areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Restock inventory and assist with receiving deliveries.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Open and close the shop as required.
- Assist with daily preparation and operational tasks.
- Support the day-to-day operation of the shop during assigned shifts.
- Assist with training and onboarding new team members.
- Provide guidance and support to staff to ensure service and quality standards are maintained.
**Minimum 2 years of experience working in a cafe as a lead barisa is required
Must be able to:
- Calibrate and adjust coffee grinder throughout the day to ensure optimal espresso extraction, consistency, and quality
- Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the espresso machine and grinder
- Ensuring adequate levels of milks, coffee, beverage garnishes, and reordering/replenishing when required
- Be the team's go-to expert on all things coffee, problem solve as needed
- Provide suggestions on how to improve coffee program
- Manage other staff behind the counter
- Shift Scheduling
Qualifications
- Previous barista, café, restaurant, or customer service experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stay calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
- Reliable and punctual.
- CIFS Food Handler Certification
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move up to 30lbs.
Availability Requirements
- Predominantely for opening shifts 5xweek, but must be available to work either daytime or afternoon/evening shifts (8-hour shifts)
- Weekend availability as needed.
- Flexible schedule to support business needs.
- Ability to work on public holidays as needed.
