We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Cook to join our team at The Grand Canal Retirement Residence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our residents by assisting with meal service, food preparation, and maintaining high standards of food safety. The ideal candidate will bring culinary enthusiasm, excellent food handling skills, and a caring attitude to support our residents’ dining experience.
Duties
- Assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and menus.
- Support kitchen staff with food preparation tasks, including chopping, assembling, and portioning ingredients.
- Ensure proper food handling and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Serve meals to residents with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the dining area and kitchen workspace.
- Help with menu planning by providing feedback on resident preferences and dietary needs.
- Support catering events or special meal occasions as needed.
Experience
- Previous cook experience a must.
- Experience working in fine dining, restaurants, or the food industry is advantageous.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques is essential.
- Culinary experience including food preparation, cooking, knife skills, and meal assembly is desirable.
- Familiarity with menu planning, catering, and serving in a hospitality setting will set candidates apart.
