Bakery Production Kitchen Manager
Sullivan & Bleeker Baking Co. | 142 Martin Ross Ave, North York, ON M3J 2L4
Full-time | Monday to Friday | 100% In-Person (this is not a remote or hybrid position)
Sullivan & Bleeker is a 100% peanut and tree nut free bakery based in North York. We produce cupcakes, cookies, and candy for retail customers, corporate clients, and wholesale accounts across the GTA and beyond. We are looking for a Bakery Production Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations and lead our production team.
About the role:
This role reports to the Director of Operations and the owner. You are the link between the kitchen and the office, and you are responsible for making sure production runs on time, orders go out correctly, and your team has what they need to do their jobs. This is not a clipboard and coffee role. You will be on the production floor every day, working alongside your team and making real-time decisions about priorities, staffing, and workflow.
The single most important quality we are looking for is the ability to think critically and act with good judgment. We can teach you our systems, our products, and our processes. We cannot teach common sense, accountability, or the instinct to catch a problem before it becomes one.
What we're looking for:
- 3+ years of experience supervising a team in a bakery, commercial kitchen, or food production environment
- Someone who can think on their feet, solve problems independently, and make smart decisions without being told what to do
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once
- Clear and direct communication with both kitchen staff and office teams
- Comprehensive note-taking and record-keeping habits
- HACCP/GMP knowledge is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate
- Food Handler Certification
- Someone who leads from the floor, not from a desk
What you'll be doing:
- Managing and supervising a production team of 10+ staff on the bakery floor
- Planning and coordinating daily production to ensure all orders are completed accurately and on time
- Maintaining lot code records, inventory counts, and quality control documentation
- Completing packing lists, bills of lading, and customs paperwork as needed
- Overseeing shipping and receiving
- Training and onboarding new kitchen staff
- Organizing, collecting, and expediting daily orders for clients
- Working closely with office staff and the Director of Operations to ensure smooth and timely deliveries
- Calculating and recording labour costs
- Ensuring all food safety and quality control procedures are followed and documented
- Getting on the line and working alongside your team when production demands it
