Prairie North Group of Companies, a leading construction group based in Acheson, Alberta, Canada, is seeking a Controller to join our team. The Controller will play a critical role in the financial management of our company, ensuring that our financial practices are following Canadian accounting standards, regulatory requirements and best practices in the industry. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Vice President Finance & Treasury.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
· Develop, implement and maintain sound financial policies and procedures.
· Collaborate with and provide guidance and support to project managers in budgeting, forecasting, and project cost tracking, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for construction projects.
· Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
· Manage cash flow, including the preparation and monitoring of cash flow forecasts, to ensure that the company has sufficient liquidity to meet its obligations.
· Qualifications:
· A CPA designation is required, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role in the construction industry.
· Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE) and construction accounting policies/practices.
· Experience with Eclipse Contract Manager software and expert knowledge of Excel.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide sound recommendations.
· Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
