We are seeking a seasoned Vice President of Operations to lead and strengthen the operational side of our growing custom lighting business. This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced professional who understands custom manufacturing, project management, estimating, engineering, procurement, quality control, and international sourcing.
The ideal candidate will be both a strategic leader and a strong operator who can make decisions, solve problems, improve processes, and ensure projects move efficiently from quotation through production and delivery.
Job Description
· Lead and oversee day-to-day operations across estimating, project management, engineering, purchasing, production, quality control, and logistics.
· Establish accountability, priorities, deadlines, and performance standards throughout the organization.
· Review and improve operational procedures to increase efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
· Oversee complex custom lighting projects from initial quotation through final delivery.
· Work closely with the sales team to review opportunities, pricing, specifications, margins, and production requirements.
· Provide senior-level oversight of quotations and estimating, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing with quick turnaround.
· Coordinate with overseas manufacturing and sourcing teams to ensure quality, pricing, schedules, and delivery requirements are met.
· Develop and monitor KPIs for operations, estimating, project management, purchasing, quality, and delivery.
· Recruit, train, mentor, and manage key operational personnel.
· Work closely with senior management on strategic planning, budgets, capacity planning, and profitability.
- Continuously identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality, and shorten lead times.
Qualifications
· 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience, preferably within custom manufacturing, architectural lighting, furniture, millwork, electrical products, or a related industry.
· Strong understanding of custom manufacturing and project-based businesses.
· Deep technical knowledge with the ability to understand architectural drawings, electrical drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
· Proven experience managing estimating/quotation functions and understanding product costing.
· Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, electrical components, LED technology, drivers, and custom fabrication is highly desirable.
· Experience working with overseas manufacturing and international supply chains, particularly China, is a strong advantage.
· Excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to move quickly, prioritize effectively, and make sound business decisions.
· Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold teams accountable while building a positive working environment.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers, suppliers, designers, contractors, and senior management.
Pay: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
