Position Summary
Spirit Omega's client is seeking a safety-focused and experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Operators to join our field operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment in support of construction, excavation, site preparation, maintenance, and energy-sector projects. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and teamwork in demanding field environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment, including:
- Excavators

Dozers
-
Loaders
-
Graders
-
Backhoes
-
Rock trucks and other specialized equipment
- Perform site preparation, grading, trenching, excavation, and material handling activities.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.

Identify and report mechanical issues, damage, or required maintenance.

Follow project specifications, work plans, and supervisor instructions.

Ensure compliance with company safety policies, industry regulations, and client requirements.

Work effectively with supervisors, labourers, truck drivers, and other crew members.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Participate in daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks.

Operate equipment efficiently while minimizing environmental impact and equipment wear.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, earthworks, pipeline, civil, mining, or energy-sector environments.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 1 or 3 considered an asset).

Demonstrated proficiency operating multiple types of heavy equipment.

Strong understanding of safe excavation and ground disturbance practices.

Ability to read site plans, grade stakes, and work instructions.

Experience working in remote locations and varying weather conditions.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work extended shifts and overtime as required.
