About Us
We are a small ICI contractor with 20 years of experience based in Mississauga, primarily operating in the Downtown Toronto area. Our standard projects are Interior Alterations of commercial offices for commercial Property Managers.
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and organized Junior Estimator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in construction estimating within the ICI sector.
Working closely with the General Manager, the successful candidate will assist in preparing competitive project estimates, coordinating pricing with subcontractors and suppliers, and supporting the tender process from bid invitation through submission. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, possesses strong analytical skills, and thrives in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Assist in reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Perform quantity take-offs for interior construction projects.
- Solicit and follow up with subcontractors and suppliers for quotations.
- Compare and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates, bid summaries, and tender submissions.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, quotations, and project documentation.
- Track bid deadlines and ensure submissions are completed accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with project managers during the estimating process.
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits when required.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures and cost databases.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2+ years of estimating or construction experience.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with estimating software (Bluebeam, or similar) is considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn within a collaborative team environment.
