Discovery Dream Homes Ltd. is looking for a dependable, hardworking Planer Operator / General Labourer to join our manufacturing team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing quality craftsmanship, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating our industrial thickness planer to produce high-quality log and timber frame components while also assisting with general labour duties throughout the production facility and yard as required.
ResponsibilitiesPlaner Operation
- Set up, operate, and adjust the industrial thickness planer for a variety of production jobs.
- Read and interpret shop drawings and production specifications to ensure accurate dimensions.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and consistency.
- Inspect finished materials to ensure they meet company and customer quality standards.
- Complete production records and report any equipment or production issues.
- Perform routine machine inspections, cleaning, and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area around the planer.
General Labour Duties
- Assist with material handling and movement of logs, timbers, and building materials throughout the facility.
- Load, unload, sort, and organize materials for production.
- Support other departments with assembly, packaging, and production tasks as required.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop, yard, and workstations.
- Safely operate forklifts and other equipment (training/certification provided if required).
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous manufacturing, woodworking, sawmill, or construction experience is considered an asset.
- Experience operating industrial woodworking equipment is an asset but not required.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and perform basic construction mathematics, including fractions and decimals.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- Ability to read shop drawings or engineering drawings is an asset.
- Forklift certification is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $18.50-$22.00 per hour
