JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles while ensuring a high standard of workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. The Automotive Mechanic will play a key role in delivering dependable, high‑quality service and supporting the day‑to‑day operations of the shop.
KEY DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine maintenance and advanced repairs on a wide range of vehicles, including oil changes, brake services, tire rotations, and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, and electrical components
- Operate power tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialized automotive tools to disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble vehicle components
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to ensure safety, performance, and compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards
- Accurately document inspections, diagnoses, repairs, and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding vehicle conditions, recommended repairs, costs, and estimated timelines
- Stay current with evolving automotive technologies, diagnostic methods, and repair techniques through ongoing learning
- Work collaboratively with technicians, service advisors, and team members to support efficient shop operations and a positive work environment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety‑focused work area in compliance with company and OH&S standards
- Use Protractor for work orders, labor tracking, and timekeeping
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as an Automotive Mechanic or Automotive Technician
- Experience working with ambulances and/or fleet vehicles is considered an asset
- Experience using Protractor is an asset; training can be provided
- Proficient in the use of power tools, diagnostic equipment, and automotive testing systems
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated experience performing maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of vehicle makes and models
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods
- High attention to detail to ensure accurate, safe, and high-quality repairs
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to clearly explain vehicle conditions and repair recommendations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Solid understanding of automotive safety standards, procedures, and industry regulations
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a positive work ethic
- Automotive Service Technician certification or apprenticeship required
