Tria Products LTD. is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Health and Safety Compliance Officer to support operations in Manitoba. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health legislation, mine-site safety protocols, contractor compliance standards, and operational safety procedures.
The successful candidate will work closely with site leadership, contractors, and operational personnel to maintain a strong safety culture while supporting efficient site operations in a remote industrial environment.
Position Summary
The Health and Safety Compliance Officer is responsible for:
- Monitoring and enforcing compliance with all applicable Manitoba mining safety regulations and company policies
- Conducting inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Maintaining accurate safety documentation and compliance records
- Delivering site orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training support
- Supporting emergency preparedness and response procedures
- Coordinating corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assisting with contractor safety management and onboarding
- Promoting a proactive and practical safety culture across the site
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine field inspections and safety audits
- Monitor compliance with Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health regulations
- Perform incident investigations and prepare detailed reports
- Perform drug and alcohol testing for employees, contractors, and site personnel as required in accordance with company policy, site safety standards, chain-of-custody procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Maintain safety statistics, records, and documentation
- Ensure proper use of PPE and site safety procedures
- Support FLHA/JHA (Field Level Hazard Assessments / Job Hazard Analyses)
- Coordinate safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Track corrective actions and compliance deficiencies
- Support emergency response planning and site drills
- Assist with environmental and operational compliance as required
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, contractors, and management
Mandatory Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of industrial, mining, construction, or heavy equipment safety experience
- Experience working at remote or camp-based industrial sites
- Strong understanding of Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health regulations
- Excellent written documentation and reporting skills
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Ability to work independently in remote environments
- Ability to obtain site security clearance and mine-site access approval

- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C
- Fall Protection / Working at Heights
- Confined Space Entry and Monitor Training
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Awareness
- Incident Investigation Training
- Hazard Assessment / FLHA Training
- H2S Alive
- Mine Safety Training / Surface Miner Safety Orientation
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- Electrical Safe Work Practices Awareness
- Emergency Response Awareness
- Radio Communication Procedures
- Heavy Equipment / ROPS Awareness
- Chainsaw Safety Awareness (asset for remote operations)
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Underground or Surface Miner Common Core training
- Mining Supervisor Common Core
- NCSO, CSO, or CRSP designation (or in progress)
- COR Internal Auditor training
- Experience in hard-rock mining operations
- Contractor management experience
- Remote northern Manitoba operational experience
- Industrial hygiene or environmental compliance experience
