We are a Christian mission that provides advocacy, care and support to guests who are temporarily in need of help in an array of areas. Our guests often struggle with mental health, addictions, homelessness, and poverty. SUMS Place Society operates 3 locations in the Whalley area and cooks for over 130 people a day. Our staff love the people that they interact with, are incredible team players, are hard-working and flexible.
We are seeking qualified casual/on-call staff for the food services department. Areas in food service for coverage, must be able to cover all areas: cook and food donations assistant.

Job description
Our Cooks make healthy and delicious meals to serve those who otherwise do not have access to food. Our cooks are creative, love working as a team, are able to adapt their menus at a moments notice and are diligent at following all foodsafe procedures.
Responsibilities
· Assist in cooking meals for program guests and members of our community using the SUMS dining facility
· Work alongside the staff/volunteers and other members of the SUMS Team
· Cook food in a timely manner
· Monitor daily fridge and freezer temperatures
· Monitor food stock and place orders
· Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
· Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

· Receiving, recording and storing donated food items
Requirements
· Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
· Food Safe certification
· Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment
· Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
· Excellent time management abilities
· Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
· Familiarity with sanitation regulations
· First Aid certification is an asset
·Food Service worker, culinary arts, or similar certificate from a recognized institute
Work Remotely
Shifts are 8 hours between 7am-5pm.
Job Type: Casual
Pay: $24.43-$28.04 per hour
