Hours: Full-Time – Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Some evenings and week-ends due to events.
Reports To: Manager of Development and Community Engagement
Summary of Position:
The Development Assistant Events and Communications contributes to the success of fundraising and marketing initiatives by supporting the Development Team with Events and Communications.
Essential Functions:
-Support team effort to raise $4,000,000 operating dollars annually
-Manage Social Media Accounts for DTM (Downtown Mission) to promote work of, fundraising for and Community engagement with DTM through Social Media channels
-Represent DTM Community Events, assist in planning/executing of Special Events of the DTM
-Communicate with Staff, Volunteers and Community to promote and engage others in Events and Fundraising/Promotional Campaigns
-Develop and sustain positive, professional relationships with staff, business contacts, volunteers, donors, and community partners
-Adhere to health and safety standards and promote health and safety as everyone’s responsibility
-A personal vehicle is required for this position.
-Other related duties as assigned by Manager.
Education & Knowledge Required:
-Familiarity with rules and regulations governing Canadian charities
-Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal skills
-Proficiency with fundraising database platforms and word processing software
Experience Required:
-Administrative experience preferred
-Social Media knowledge and experience considered an asset
-Event Management knowledge and experience are considered an asset
-Demonstrated experience in customer service and dealing with the public
Skills Required:
-Advanced written and spoken communication skills
-Highly organized with the ability to work with minimal supervision
-Ability to problem solve and work with Team Members and across departments to achieve goals
-Reliable and committed
-Proficiency with fundraising database platforms, Microsoft software an asset Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission & vision of the DTM
Financial Accountability:
-Assist in achieving Organizational Fundraising Targets annually
-Focus on achieving Event Sponsorship Targets and Fundraising results through social media annually
-Nurture an awareness of cost efficiency
-Maintain an awareness of cost efficiency
Staff Management:
-Mentor, work with, and supervise volunteers from time to time maintain healthy relationships with co-workers, volunteers, community partners, in accordance with the Downtown Mission Code of Conduct
Pay: $43,680.00-$47,840.00 per year
