Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Janitorial Operations Supervisor to oversee commercial cleaning operations across the Sudbury and Timmins regions. The ideal candidate is a local resident of Sudbury who possesses deep technical expertise in commercial floor care and a strong leadership background.
You will be responsible for maintaining high service standards, conducting rigorous site inspections, training frontline staff, and stepping in operationally when needed. This role requires flexibility, as you will oversee both daytime government contracts and after-hours bank and utility locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Inspections & Quality Control: Conduct mandatory weekly inspections across various regional sites to ensure strict adherence to scopes of work and safety standards.
- Team Leadership & Training: Onboard, train, and mentor cleaning staff on proper techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Provide ongoing operational assistance.
- Client & Site Management: Effectively manage operations across multiple contract types, including daytime government facilities and after-hours Hydro and financial institution locations.
- Emergency Operations Response: Act as the ultimate backstop for service delivery. In the event of staff call-outs, emergencies, or missed shifts, you will be expected to personally clean the site to guarantee service continuity.
- Regional Travel: Drive to various regional locations as required, including Timmins, Little Current, Hanmer, Garson, and surrounding communities.
Required Skills and Experience
- Cleaning Industry Expertise: Proven, multi-year experience working within the commercial cleaning or janitorial industry.
- Advanced Floor Care Mastery: Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience with auto scrubbers, strip and wax techniques, and carpet extraction machinery.
- Security Clearances: Must be able to successfully pass and maintain various strict criminal record and background clearance processes required for access to high-security government and financial sites.
- Geographic Proximity & Mobility: Must be currently residing in the Sudbury area and possess a valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle and a willingness to travel regularly to Timmins and neighboring municipalities.
- Adaptable Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate both daytime inspections and after-hours/evening site audits.
