As a Field Operations Technician, you will work on-site at client locations performing installation, repair, configuration, and testing of telecommunications and network infrastructure for enterprise clients. You will represent DCS Tech Solutions with professionalism at every site visit and contribute to delivering reliable, high-quality service.
The role may include participation in an on-call rotation for emergency response, as well as evening or weekend work depending on client schedules and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain telecommunications and network infrastructure at client premises.
- Configure and test cabling, network equipment, and customer-premises hardware.
- Diagnose technical issues and perform service restoration as required.
- Maintain accurate field documentation and service reports for each visit.
- Deliver a courteous and professional service experience at every interaction.
- Follow all health, safety, and operational policies on every job site.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in telecommunications, network installation, structured cabling, or related electronics fields.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related technical field is an asset.
- DEC, technical college diploma, or vocational training in electronics, networking, or a related discipline is an asset.
- Ability to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and meet service-level commitments.
- Experience with carrier-grade or enterprise telecommunications equipment is an asset.
- Ability to communicate in English where required for client service, technical documentation, or coordination with non-French-speaking stakeholders. Working French is strongly preferred and is a significant asset for client-facing work in Québec.
- Valid driver's licence in good standing and the ability to travel to client sites.
Vehicle & Tools
Candidates are expected to have access to an appropriate work vehicle for transporting equipment and tools, and to supply standard professional-grade hand tools, power tools, ladders, basic telecom test equipment, and personal protective equipment. Specific requirements for any given engagement will be confirmed in writing in advance.
Work Conditions
The role is performed primarily on client sites, with travel between locations as required. Schedules are arranged with the technician and may include daytime, evening, weekend, and on-call hours depending on client requirements. The work involves standard physical activity associated with field telecommunications work, including climbing, working at heights, working in confined spaces, and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Pay: $451.71-$903.70 per week
