Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator with an interest in custom architectural millwork and woodworking projects. The successful candidate will support the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of custom millwork projects while working closely with senior estimators, project managers, designers, production teams, suppliers, and clients.
This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in estimating and project costing within the millwork industry. The Junior Estimator will receive mentorship and hands-on experience while developing a strong understanding of millwork construction methods, materials, manufacturing processes, and project costing.
This is an on-site role and not eligible for remote work
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope and requirements.
· Support the preparation of detailed cost estimates for custom architectural millwork projects, including materials, labour, hardware, finishes, installation, and subcontracted services.
· Perform quantity take-offs and assist in analyzing project requirements.
· Obtain pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
· Help identify potential project risks and value-engineering opportunities.
· Collaborate with project managers, designers, and production teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
· Maintain estimating databases, material pricing, labour rates, and historical project information.
· Assist with preparing quotations, bid submissions, and proposal packages.
· Participate in project handoff meetings and support the transition from estimating to project execution.
· Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimating processes and cost accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills:
· 1–3 years of estimating, project coordination, millwork, construction, or related industry experience.
· Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
· Familiarity with millwork materials, manufacturing processes, and construction practices is considered an asset.
· Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
· Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education:
· Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Woodworking Technology, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
· Recent graduates with relevant co-op or industry experience are encouraged to apply.
· Relevant estimating or construction-related certifications would be considered an asset.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
