We are seeking a reliable and skilled Landscape Technician to join our growing team at Carvery’s Construction Limited. As a multi-trade construction and general contracting company based in Dartmouth, NS, we handle a wide range of residential, commercial, and municipal projects—including site preparation, hardscaping, softscaping, grounds maintenance, and integrated landscaping services as part of renovations, new builds, and property management work.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who takes pride in transforming outdoor spaces, enjoys physical work outdoors, and can work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, trees, and shrubs (planting, sodding, mulching, edging, etc.)
- Perform hardscaping tasks such as installing patios, walkways, retaining walls, fencing, and other landscape features
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment safely (mowers, trimmers, blowers, tillers, skid steers, compactors, etc.)
- Grade and prepare sites, including soil amendments, drainage solutions, and erosion control
- Irrigation system installation, repair, and seasonal maintenance
- Snow removal and winter grounds maintenance (seasonal)
- Work collaboratively with other trades (electrical, painting, drywall, etc.) on multi-phase construction/reno projects
- Follow all health & safety protocols, WHMIS, and company procedures
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional
- Assist with material handling, loading/unloading, and general site support as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related construction trades (3+ years preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract (company vehicle use may be available for qualified candidates)
- Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment safely
- Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs, work in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and customer service mindset
- Horticulture, landscaping certificate, or Red Seal / Landscape Horticulture Certification Program credentials are assets (but not required)
- LIUNA union affiliation or willingness to work under union agreements is beneficial for certain projects
- Reliable transportation to our Dartmouth shop (6 Ralston Ave) and various job sites in HRM
