Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Sewer Water Pipe Layer to join our construction team. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining underground sewer and water pipelines. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, experience operating heavy equipment, and a solid understanding of safety protocols. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects in a dynamic environment, contributing to essential infrastructure development.
Responsibilities
- Lay and install sewer and water pipelines according to project specifications and safety standards
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and rigging tools to excavate trenches and position pipes
- Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, fitting, and securing pipes and related components
- Perform welding tasks as needed for pipe connections or repairs
- Manage low voltage electrical connections related to pipeline systems
- Ensure proper trench shoring and safety measures are in place during installation activities
- Assist with the setup and operation of bucket operations for lifting and positioning large pipe sections
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and pipelines to identify potential issues or hazards
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe work environment
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and rigging gear
- Experience with electrical systems, low voltage wiring, and welding techniques
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for pipe fitting and repair tasks
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to trenching, excavation, and heavy machinery operation
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, or schematics related to pipeline installation
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions
This position requires a dedicated individual with a strong work ethic who is committed to safety and quality workmanship. Prior experience in sewer or water pipeline installation is preferred but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates willing to learn.
Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
