PAG is one of British Columbia’s leading public art galleries, connecting people with art through inspiring exhibitions, engaging educational programming, and meaningful community experiences.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and people-focused Education & Engagement Coordinator to support exceptional arts programs, and to develop a dedicated team of volunteers to assist across all Gallery initiatives.

Whether it’s designing a better registration form, building a spreadsheet that keeps everyone on track, or creating procedures that improve consistency, you take pride in bringing thoughtful planning and exceptional organization to your work.
Schedule
- Tuesday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
- Saturday 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
- Daily half hour unpaid lunch break
- Occasional evening and weekend hours as required for exhibition openings, special events, community programs, and volunteer activities.
Compensation & Benefits
- $23.00 per hour
- Three (3) weeks of paid vacation annually

About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting arts education and community programs while overseeing the administrative coordination of instructors and facilitators. The role also recruits, schedules, trains, and supports the Gallery’s valued volunteer team, helping to create exceptional experiences for participants, volunteers, Members, artists, and visitors alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with dedicated volunteer committee members to develop and deliver exceptional programs and initiatives including seasonal camps, workshops, classes, artist talks and tours.
- Manage participant registration, confirmation, and feedback, and recommend improvements.
- Promote opportunities, and recruit, onboard and train new volunteers.
- Provide ongoing communication, coaching, and support to seasoned volunteers.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive volunteer culture.
- Coordinate volunteer appreciation and recognition initiatives.
- Match volunteer interests and skills with organizational needs.
- Maintain shared Google program calendars and online volunteer databases.
- Assist with promoting programs and opportunities through print and digital communications, public speaking and social media.
- Support exhibition openings, fundraising and community events.
- Work collaboratively with Gallery staff to ensure an exceptional visitor experience.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- Experience coordinating educational, community, recreation, or arts programming.
- Experience recruiting, training and directing volunteers.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent cloud-based computer skills using Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office with demonstrated ability to learn new software and technology quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
- A genuine enthusiasm for arts, culture, education, and community engagement.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is considered an asset:
- Education, public art galleries/museums, or cultural organizations
- Summer camps or youth programming
- Volunteer program development
- Community partnerships
- Social media promotion
