Tool Room Supervisor
Summary
We are looking for a Machinist that will work in cooperation with the Tool Room Supervisor and the Engineer to repair and manufacture parts for molds to maintain the integrity and longevity of the molds. This position will include, but is not limited to, operating machining equipment, as well as sanding, stoning, polishing and fitting mold parts, as well as, manufacture and repair equipment in support of all other departments. The Machinist must possess registered Machinist or Tool and Die apprentice or Journeyman ticket. Additional certifications or licenses appropriate to manufacturing industry are an asset.
Job Duties
- Exercise caution and provide diligent support to facility systems to ensure safety
- Pause and report any unsafe work environments or employee concerns to your direct supervisor, or Health and Safety (EHS) Personnel if supervisor is not available.
- Interpret engineering drawings, manuals, specifications, or measure sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces
- Fabricate mold and machine components to meet specifications within tight tolerances.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, and safety
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
- Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards
- Mold injection diagnostics
- Ensure proper use of required personal protective equipment at all times
- Follow manufacturing and processing procedures, set machine or equipment controls, carry out production and inspection processes
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on all equipment and tools
- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including CNC, EDM, manual mills, lathes and surface grinder
- Bolt, screw, or otherwise fasten parts and components together using hand and power tools and equipment
- Cut, drill, sand, and stone materials for precise fit
- Grind, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools and machines to obtain desired surface finishes
- Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications
- Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues
- Position and install parts, subassemblies, and accessories using hand tools, power tools, and other aids like overhead hoists
- Other duties that may be required
Job Requirements
- Registered Machinist or Tool and Die apprentice or Journeyman ticket
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various machining processes
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- MIG and TIG welding an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor
- Demonstrated ability to operate material-handling equipment, overhead crane
- Ability to work overtime as required, at times with little notice

Pay: $23.00-$38.00 per hour
