Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator - Maternity Leave Contract Position
Reports To: Centre Administrators
Position Summary: To plan activities based on observations of the children’s interests and skills using Ontario’s Early Learning Framework and “How Does Learning Happen?”. You will actively build relationships with children and families while demonstrating dedication to the development, education and care of young children. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 and the Policies and Procedures of Milestones Children’s Centre are met.
Job Description:
- Demonstrate an understanding of MCC Policies and Procedures and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
- Work as part of a team and share responsibilities with others to develop and implement program plans which are developmentally appropriate and inclusive of all children.
- Implement a variety of positive and consistent approaches towards behaviour guidance which are consistent with the policies, practices and philosophy of MCC.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the position through attendance, punctuality and enthusiasm for work.
Qualifications:
- minimum 18 years of age
- experience working for at least one year in the field of early childhood education
- Registered Early Childhood Educator
- Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators in Good Standing
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check
- up-to-date immunizations, specifically tetanus (within the last 10 years) and MMR
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 hours/day (plus a 1-hour unpaid lunch break)
Additional Hours: one after hours staff meeting per month (September - June)
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: August 4, 2027 with potential for extension beyond this date
Wage: Minimum starting rate for RECE's is $23.69/hour base rate, plus $1.00/hour of CWELCC, plus $2.08/hour of provincial wage enhancement. Provincial wage enhancement is only payable for time spent in the program room or program planning. Note: the provincial wage enhancement is not payable on orientation, meetings or professional learning time. Starting rate is determined based on education and experience.
