The Opportunity
Reporting to the Housing Advisor,
The Community Housing Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of an assigned portfolio of residential communities.
This role works closely with residents and Resident Managers to help ensure communities are welcoming, well-maintained, and operating effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with the client experience coordinator, accounting and capital project teams to support exceptional resident experience and strong community outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of an assigned portfolio of residential communities.
- Build positive relationships with residents, Resident Managers, contractors, and community service partners.
- Conduct application review and placement processes, resident onboarding, and occupancy initiatives.
- Coordinate resident communications, notices, and community engagement activities.
- Conduct regular property inspections and identify operational or maintenance concerns.
- Work closely with contractors and service providers to ensure maintenance requests are addressed in a timely manner.
- Support tenant retention through responsive service and relationship management.
- Assist with move-ins, move-outs, and tenancy administration processes.
- Coordinate resident access and communications during maintenance and capital improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, community standards, and Nova Scotia Residential Tenancies legislation.
- Provide regular updates to the Housing Advisor regarding community operations and resident concerns.
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Property Management, Business Administration, Housing Management, Real Estate, Community Development, or a related field is considered an asset.
- 2-5 years of experience in residential housing, property management, community services, hospitality, customer service leadership, or a related field.
- Experience leading staff, contractors, or resident-facing teams.
- Experience coordinating multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in non-profit, workforce housing, or non-market housing is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between communities as required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Understanding of residential housing operations and resident service delivery.
- Knowledge of Nova Scotia Residential Tenancies legislation is considered an asset.
- Ability to build positive relationships with residents, staff, contractors, and community partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software (Yardi experience is an asset).

Location: HRM (travel in Nova Scotia communities when required)
