As an Engineer-in-Training, you will be a member of a multidisciplinary team. In this position, you will support several geotechnical, environmental and materials engineers through analytical and technical support, field/lab activities, and reporting.
Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities and essential job tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Field Activities
· Participate in planning and completion of geotechnical site investigations and assessments.
· Follow all site safety requirements, reporting any near miss or incident immediately to your supervisor, ParklandGEO safety coordinator and site safety.
· Monitor drilling/coring, gather field samples, record, and enter data accurately, communicate with project manager and engineer on problems and results.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
· Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP’s) to ensure proper field procedures are adhered to.
2. Engineering Activities and Practice
· Work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) who will guide, mentor and be responsible for your engineering work.
· Assist in engineering projects under the guidance of senior engineers.
· Contribute and learn engineering analysis and design.
· Collaborate with and learn from experienced professionals to grow in your engineering skills.
· Stay current and ensure compliance with all applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulations in your registered province.
· Apply engineering principles and theories to practical problems.
· Gain hands on experience in engineering design, analysis, and project management
3. Documentation and Reporting
· Maintain accurate and detailed records of your engineering work.
· Prepare clear and comprehensive documentation, including reports, drawings, and calculations.
· Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D would be considered an asset.
· File all records and documentation in the proper project folder.
4. Professional Development
· Familiarize yourself with and adhere to all applicable laws, codes, and regulations governing the engineering profession.
· Develop a professional development plan in consultation with your supervisor and mentor.
· Set goals and objectives for your career development.
· Work towards obtaining Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation in accordance with the regulations set by the provinces Association of Professional Engineers.
Qualifications
o A bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized institution.
o Registered as an Engineer-in-Training.
o Strong knowledge of engineering regulations and codes.
o Well organized, with the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time.
o Able to work independently with limited supervision.
o Excellent communication and teamwork skills
o Proficiency in engineering software and tools
Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
