Function/Purpose: To implement recreation and activation programs to meet the various physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual needs of residents and assists in monitoring resident progress.
Reports to: Recreation Manager - LTC
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary diploma, degree or certificate in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field from an Ontario post-secondary institution or other jurisdiction that is equivalent (LTC)
· First Aide (Craigwiel)
- Positive, team-work attitude and approach to work
- Excellent customer service skills
- Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and TB skin test
- Safe Food Handling Certificate
- CPR/First Aide
- BSO certification is preferred
Position Specific Responsibilities: include, but are not limited to:
1. Adhere to all written policies and procedures of the Home.
2. Report maintenance requests, as needed
3. Plan, facilitate and evaluate recreational individual, small group and large group programs and events
4. Develop monthly program calendar for designated area
5. Responsible for providing oversight of safety of residents and volunteers during off-site outings
6. Maintain program attendance records and other documentation (assessments, RAI-MDS, care plans, care conferences, etc.)
7. Ensure adequate supplies are stocked and available
8. Ensure physical and social environments are suitable for residents
9. Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement by providing feedback/suggestions and engaging in implementation
10. Assist with meals, as needed
Safety Roles and Responsibilities
All staff are responsible for identifying incidents and for taking immediate action to ensure the safety of residents, visitors and other staff. Open disclosure must occur when a safety incident happens, regardless of whether it is unplanned, unintended or a circumstance that could have resulted or did result in unnecessary harm to a resident. Data and feedback from staff, resident, client, families and partners can identify system vulnerabilities to inform quality improvement efforts
Pay: $23.13-$24.91 per hour
