Position Summary
The Process Technician/Operator is responsible for supporting production operations through equipment setup, troubleshooting, process monitoring, and basic mechanical repairs. This role is designed to strengthen operational efficiency by developing mechanically inclined personnel who can independently identify and resolve minor equipment and process issues, reducing downtime and minimizing reliance on the maintenance department for day-to-day troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, mechanically inclined, proactive, and capable of supporting production teams with technical and operational problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Process Support
· Operate and monitor retort equipment to ensure proper cooking and sterilization of products.
· Verify lot codes, temperature, pressure, and cycle times for accuracy and compliance with food safety standards.
· Complete required documentation, including batch records, charts, and logs.
· Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance of equipment.
· Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and adhere to all Health & Safety and Food Safety policies.
· Report equipment malfunctions, deviations, or safety hazards promptly to the supervisor.
· Work closely with quality assurance and production teams to ensure efficiency and product integrity.
· Monitor production lines and equipment to ensure efficient and continuous operations.
· Troubleshoot minor mechanical, operational, and process-related issues during production runs.
· Assist with machine setups, adjustments, startups, and changeovers.
· Support operators and production staff with equipment operation and troubleshooting.
· Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
· Ensure equipment settings and production processes meet product quality standards.
Equipment & Maintenance Support
· Perform basic mechanical repairs and adjustments on production equipment.
· Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and equipment inspections.
· Work closely with the maintenance team on larger repairs and ongoing equipment improvements.
· Escalate major mechanical or electrical issues to maintenance when required.
· Help maintain equipment cleanliness, organization, and safe operating conditions.
Safety & Compliance
· Follow all company safety policies, GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures.
· Ensure safe operation of machinery and equipment.
· Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or production risks immediately.
· Maintain accurate production and troubleshooting records when required.
Qualifications
· Previous experience in food manufacturing or industrial production environments preferred.
· Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
· Experience operating or adjusting production equipment is considered an asset.
· Ability to learn equipment systems, production processes, and maintenance procedures.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
· Basic understanding of safety and food manufacturing standards.
Working Conditions
· Manufacturing and production environment.
· Requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and working around industrial machinery.
· May require overtime, weekends, or flexible scheduling based on production needs.
· Exposure to noise, steam, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
