Unit Description:
OnSPARK is a health data platform that supports research for quality improvement and innovation across the long-term care (LTC) sector in Ontario. Operating in close collaboration with health system, government, and academic partners, OnSPARK securely integrates and curates real-world data from LTC homes to enable high-impact, evidence-informed research.
We are seeking a Developer (III) with strong knowledge of and demonstrated experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other digital and statistical tools to ingest, manage, and analyze both structured and unstructured health data including personal health information (PHI) in a secure computing environment. Building on the analysis, using digital, web-based and AI-enhanced technologies to facilitate knowledge dissemination to project partners and Ontario’s long-term care sector is a key aspect of the role. Data security and privacy issues are also central.
The emphasis in this position is on hands-on data collection and analysis, and knowledge dissemination. All aspects require application development using a range of computer-based digital tools, including AI tools. The successful candidate will work closely with researchers and project teams to execute research and quality improvement projects, and develop electronic tools/resources that will serve Ontario’s long-term care sector. This position is best suited for an individual who enjoys working on a team in a fast-paced and technologically advanced environment, as well as one who can work in a secure data environment.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success and experience working with complex health and administrative datasets, and with using and developing advanced (especially AI-related) digital tools. The role requires the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team, engaging with researchers, clinicians, data stewards, and health system partners.
The team operates primarily in a remote environment with a hybrid component. While most work can be completed remotely, in-person meetings or events are held on campus as needed, without a fixed schedule.
Job Summary:
The Developer (III) is responsible for providing technical expertise in a specific business applications area which requires a working knowledge of the technical infrastructure underpinning the applications. Plans, consults, and coordinates complex project assignments in the design, development and implementation of applications software. Provides technical expertise working as part of a service or project team to implement complex technical solutions that meet client and business requirements. Responsible for contributing to the planning of the work programs and the review, development, and modification of best practices and technical solutions.
