About Us
We are a new health and wellness clinic opening in Sherwood Park, dedicated to helping our community feel and live better. As we build our practice from the ground up, we are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented bookkeeper to establish and maintain our financial records and help set the clinic up for long-term success.
Position Summary
Reporting to the clinic owner, the Bookkeeper is responsible for the day-to-day financial record-keeping of the clinic using QuickBooks Online. This is a part-time role (20 hours per week) well suited to an experienced bookkeeper who values accuracy, discretion, and the opportunity to help shape the financial processes of a brand-new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online, including recording daily sales and clinic transactions
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and payment processor deposits (e.g., debit/credit terminal and online payments)
- Manage accounts payable, including vendor bills, expense tracking, and payment runs
- Manage accounts receivable, including client billing, insurance/direct-billing receipts, and follow-up on outstanding balances
- Process payroll and maintain payroll records, including CRA source deduction remittances
- Prepare and file GST returns and other government remittances on time
- Complete month-end closing procedures and produce financial reports for the owner (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Help set up and document bookkeeping processes, the chart of accounts, and internal controls for the new clinic
- Maintain organized, audit-ready records and liaise with the external accountant at year-end
- Handle all financial and client-related information with strict confidentiality
Qualifications
- 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small-business setting
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required
- Solid working knowledge of full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, and CRA remittances (GST, source deductions)
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Self-directed and trustworthy, with the ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
- Comfortable with Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets and standard office technology
Assets
- Experience in the health and wellness industry (e.g., clinics, spas, fitness, or healthcare practices)
- Familiarity with clinic practice-management or booking software and direct billing to insurers
- Bookkeeping certificate, accounting diploma, or equivalent training
- Experience setting up books for a new business
Compensation & Schedule
This position offers $25.00 per hour at 20 hours per week. The schedule can be flexible and will be agreed upon with the successful candidate. As the clinic grows, there may be opportunity for additional hours.
