Position Summary
The Construction Foreman directly supervises a crew of tradespeople and labourers in carrying out specific construction tasks. They are responsible for ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards, following the directions and schedule set by the Site Supervisor and/or the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and coordinate the activities of crew members on site.
· Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
· Assign daily tasks to workers and ensure proper work methods are followed.
· Inspect work to ensure quality and compliance with plans and standards.
· Monitor productivity and provide feedback or corrective instruction when necessary.
· Ensure crew compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
· Order or request necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
· Report progress, issues, or delays to the Site Supervisor.
· Train and mentor apprentices and new crew members.
· Maintain housekeeping and safe working conditions on site.
Qualifications
· Journeyman or Red Seal certification in a construction trade e.g. carpenter.
· 5+ years of experience in the trade, including 1–3 years in a lead or foreman role.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
· Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
· Solid understanding of construction safety standards and procedures.
