Overview
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and caring individual to cook in our child care kitchen. The ideal candidate will be committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and quality while contributing positively to our team and supporting the well-being of the children in our care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious snacks and meals in accordance with planned menu and the Canada Food Guide
- Prepare food items safely, adhering to proper food handling and safety protocols
- Ensure food is properly stored, labelled, dated and rotated following food safety standards
- Order food and kitchen supplies while managing inventory and minimizing waste
- Maintain efficient and cost effective dietary budget
- Keep the kitchen, food preparation areas, equipment, and storage areas clean, sanitized, and organized
- Foster a welcoming and positive environment for chidren and families
- Assist in creating Seasonal Menu
Requirements
- Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide
- 1-2 years of experience working in a kitchen environment
- Health Unit Food Handler's Course Certificate
- Ability to Budget
- Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Police Check
- Clear TB Skin Test
- Standard First Aid and CPR C certificate within 3 months of starting
- Transportation Required
- Must be reliable, responsible, and committed to creating a safe environment for children
Pay: From $20.66 per hour
