About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our growing team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty trucks and equipment. This is a hands-on role in a busy, fast-paced shop environment serving a fleet of commercial trucks.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air systems on Class 6–8 trucks and heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and CVIP certifications
- Troubleshoot engine issues across Cummins, Detroit, and other major platforms
- Repair and replace components including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and exhaust/aftertreatment systems
- Perform welding and fabrication as required
- Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly to the supervisor
Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certificate (Alberta or Red Seal)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a heavy-duty truck or fleet repair environment
- Strong diagnostic skills — experience with Cummins Insite, Detroit Diagnostics, or similar software is an asset
- Solid understanding of CVIP inspection standards
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Valid Alberta driver's licence (Class 5 minimum; AirBrake endorsement preferred)
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
