Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Package Handler to join our dynamic logistics and warehouse operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently handling, sorting, and preparing packages for shipment and delivery. Responsibilities
- Safely load, unload, and move packages using equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, cranes, and order pickers
- Assist with order picking, packing, and preparing shipments according to specified guidelines
- Operate heavy equipment responsibly to load and unload goods from trucks or storage areas
- Maintain accurate inventory records within warehouse management systems such as AS400
- Ensure proper packaging of items to prevent damage during transit
- Support shipping and receiving processes by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment like forklifts and cranes to ensure safety standards are met
- Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse layout for efficient storage and retrieval
- Assist with construction-related tasks or heavy lifting when required
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents or injuries during heavy equipment operation
Experience
- Prior experience working in a warehouse distribution or manufacturing environment preferred
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems such as AS400 or similar platforms
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment including forklifts, reach trucks, cranes, and order pickers
- Mechanical knowledge related to maintenance or troubleshooting of warehouse machinery advantageous
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures and order fulfillment processes
- Experience with heavy lifting, packaging, and load/unload activities essential
- Construction or industrial experience beneficial for understanding heavy equipment operation and safety standards
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory management and order processing
